GREEDINESS AND LUXURIOUS LIFE

Life is so good that some issues within it make it less pleasant amongst which, of course, is greediness and unnecessary extravagant appearances (showoffs).

In some countries in the Middle East where natural resources are abundant, luxurious life is dominant. Newspapers, magazines, roads banners, advertising agencies, and websites broadcast news about activities that costs hundreds of thousands of money almost everyday.

Newspapers are full of ads on last hour, edge- technology cars, sport cars, palaces, villas… etc. a wealth that rarely exists in a lot of countries around the glob.

When you see yourself in the middle of such “economic turmoil”, but your role is just observing, watching, hearing all that is going in this city which God endowed with unlimited resources of energy, you got immediately the feeling that you want to be part of this active and unstoppable life.

However, all depends on your income whether it is monthly or daily, how far you are rich ( a vague term) or poor (vague term too), sometimes I ask myself why some of low- wage- salary laborers have the boldness to steal a mobile, watch, camera once they find any of them in a public place café, Cornich, restaurant … etc.
Are they motivated by instinct or the feeling that they are deprived or excluded from the society where they live, it is really a phenomenon that deserves to be studied by relevant authorities in order to lay down legislations that could curb such criminal acts.

Through my reading of the daily newspapers, I encounter press reports on courts’ sentences condemning locals or residents who committed offenses especially thefts or corruption, sentences are strict and direct, a thing that I believe that it is undoubtedly correct as offenders and public will not dare think of committing offense again, we should hail local legislations and courts’ rules in this regard.

If we should find ways to get around greediness of mankind which prospers in societies where wealth is and living standards are better, we should think of promoting social and national sense of locals and residents equally, the way of broadcasting strict and stiff sentences by courts is good and should yield expected positive results.
Awareness programs should be put down and implemented by specialists and relevant authorities to help fight law offenses, also targeted programs related to ethical and sincerity of human nature should be set up.

Finally, I hope that self-control and God fearing be the first deterrents of greediness.
